Privacy Policy
How we collect, use, and protect your personal information.
Last updated: 22 October 2026
1. Who we are
Melvive is operated by Mel Deane (“Melvive”, “we”, “us”, “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data when you use the Melvive app and website (the “Service”). For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, contact support@melvive.com.
2. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information: your name, email address, and authentication details (including via Apple or Google sign-in).
- Profile and fitness information: details you provide such as goals, experience level, available equipment, sex, height and weight, and any aches or injuries you tell us about.
- Training data: your workouts, sessions, sets, weights, repetitions, feedback, daily check-ins, and progress.
- Community content: messages or content you post in community features.
- Billing information: subscription status and related details. Card payments are processed by our payment partners and/or the relevant app store — we do not store full card numbers.
- Technical and usage data: device information, app version, log data, and basic analytics needed to operate and improve the Service.
Some of the information you provide (such as injuries or health-related notes) may be considered sensitive. We use it only to personalise your workouts and operate the Service, and you choose what to share.
3. How we use your information
- To provide the Service, including generating personalised, AI-assisted workout suggestions;
- To create and manage your account and subscription;
- To improve, troubleshoot, and secure the Service;
- To communicate with you about your account, important changes, and support requests;
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
4. Legal bases for processing
Where applicable data protection law (such as the UK GDPR) applies, we rely on the following legal bases: performance of our contract with you (to provide the Service); your consent (for example, for certain sensitive data such as injury details, which you can withdraw at any time); our legitimate interests (to improve and secure the Service); and compliance with legal obligations.
5. AI processing
With your permission, Melvive sends relevant fitness information to TypeSafe AI, Inc. (Jev) to adapt your workouts, and to OpenAI for fallback recommendations and explanations.
This can include your goals, experience, equipment, body weight, training history and feedback, daily wellbeing check-ins, and any aches, injuries or other health information and notes you choose to enter.
We do not include your account name, email or payment details in AI requests. Free-text notes are included, so avoid adding identifying information about yourself or others.
By choosing Allow AI data sharing, I explicitly consent to sharing this information, including health information, with TypeSafe and OpenAI for workout personalisation and explanations.
This is optional. Continue without AI to use rules-based personalisation. You can change your choice or withdraw consent in Profile → AI data sharing. Declining does not affect your membership.
Providers may process data outside your country and retain it under their data-handling terms. Withdrawal stops new AI requests; it cannot recall data already processed. Contact mel@melvive.com for deletion or other privacy requests.
AI suggestions can be wrong. Melvive provides general fitness guidance, not medical advice. Stop if exercise causes pain and consult a qualified professional when needed.
TypeSafe privacy policy · OpenAI data controls
We record your choice, the disclosure version and the time you allow or withdraw AI data sharing. This sharing requires your explicit consent; accepting our terms or fitness waiver does not enable it. If you decline, your fitness data still supports Melvive’s rules-based workouts without being sent to these AI providers. General workout templates may be generated using exercise-library content without member personal data.
6. Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with:
- Service providers who help us operate the Service (for example, hosting and database providers such as Supabase, AI providers, and payment and subscription partners such as the Apple App Store, Stripe, and RevenueCat);
- Authorities or third parties where required by law, to protect our rights, or to prevent harm; and
- A successor entity in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
7. International transfers
Your information may be processed in countries outside your own. Where we transfer personal data internationally, we take steps to ensure an appropriate level of protection, such as relying on recognised safeguards or adequacy mechanisms required by applicable law.
8. Data retention
We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, and afterwards only as long as necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, contact support@melvive.com. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including access controls and encryption in transit. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your data and respond to incidents appropriately.
11. Children
The Service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify you, for example in the app or by email. The “last updated” date above reflects the latest version.
